I ALSO FIGHT WINDMILLS   PHOTO OXFORD FESTIVAL   13-29 APRIL 2023
A visual response to the literary archive of the feminist writer Sophie Gaudier-Brzeska (1872-1925). Through enactment and staging Ania Ready brings to life a story about displacement in the West, loss, creativity, loneliness, a disempowering sense of guilt and social exclusion. Here and in the accompanying book she explores human fragility through the performative aspect of photography. The images are paired with audio recordings of excerpts of Sophie Gaudier-Brzeska’s texts done by the voice actor Verity Kirk.
